Post-Construction Cleaning in Hyderabad: What It Covers & Why It Matters
Getting the keys to a new flat in Kokapet, Tellapur, Kompally or Bachupally is exciting, until you walk in and see cement splashes on the floor, paint dots on the windows and a fine white dust on every surface. Builders do a "handover cleaning", but it's rarely more than a sweep. Post-construction cleaning in Hyderabad is a different job altogether, and doing it right protects the floors and fittings you've paid for.
What you'll learn
- What post-construction cleaning includes
- Why the wrong method can damage new marble, granite and fittings
- The right order: interiors, painting, cleaning, polishing
- Typical cost in Hyderabad
Why construction dirt is different
Normal household dirt is soft and comes off with soap and water. Construction residue is tougher. Cement and grout haze bonds to the floor surface. Paint and putty dry hard. POP and wall-sanding dust is so fine it gets into cupboard hinges, switchboards and AC vents. Stickers and protective films on glass and fittings leave glue behind.
The common shortcut is "just use acid, it removes cement". That works on ceramic tiles, but on marble, granite and Italian marble it eats into the surface. We regularly get calls to repair floors that were "cleaned" with acid before a housewarming.
What a proper post-construction clean covers
- Scraping cement, grout and mortar spots with suitable blades
- Removing paint drops and putty from floors, windows and switches
- Removing stickers and glue from glass, sanitary ware and fittings
- Vacuuming fine dust from cupboards, drawers, wardrobe tracks and AC grills
- Cleaning window glass, frames, grills and sliding channels
- Descaling bathroom tiles, fittings and glass
- Machine scrubbing of floors with stone-safe chemicals
- Cleaning balcony floors and drain outlets
The right sequence for a new home
- Civil and interior work: carpentry, modular kitchen, false ceiling
- Painting: final coats after carpentry is fitted
- Post-construction deep cleaning: removes all dust, paint and cement
- Marble or granite floor polishing: gives the final shine
- Move in, or do your gruha pravesam
Polishing before carpentry and painting is a common mistake. Carpenters' sawdust, dragged tools and paint drops will scratch and mark the fresh polish. Polish last.

Deep Cleaning Services WhatsAppHow much does post-construction cleaning cost?
In Hyderabad, post-construction cleaning is usually priced at around ₹4 – ₹9 per sq ft of built-up area, depending on how much cement and paint residue there is, the number of bathrooms and balconies, and whether the home is empty. For a typical 1,500 sq ft 3BHK, that works out to about ₹6,000 – ₹13,500. Adding a full marble polish is quoted separately. See our marble polishing cost guide for rates.
How long does it take?
A team of 4 to 5 people can usually finish a 2BHK or 3BHK in one long day. Heavier residue or villas may take two days. If polishing follows, plan another 2 to 4 days depending on the floor area.
Tips for new homeowners
- Ask your builder to keep floors covered with sheets or boards until interior work is done
- Don't let painters or carpenters use acid to "clean up"
- Check that window channels and bathroom drains aren't blocked with cement before you move in
- Book cleaning at least a week before your housewarming date to leave time for polishing

It's a heavy-duty clean done after construction, renovation or interior work. It removes cement, grout haze, paint drops, putty dust and stickers, and cleans every surface before you move in.
How much does post-construction cleaning cost in Hyderabad?
Usually about ₹4 to ₹9 per sq ft of built-up area, depending on how much residue there is and the size of the home.
Can acid be used to remove cement from marble floors?
No. Acid etches and dulls marble, granite and Italian marble. Cement should be removed by careful scraping and stone-safe chemicals.
Should I polish marble before or after interior work?
After. Polish the floor as the very last step, after carpentry, painting and post-construction cleaning are complete.
